End of Week Two

And so I keep going. OK, so it took me at least four weeks to get through two weeks of the program, but it’s not because I’ve given up. I had the problem with my hip and then there were the holidays and teaching yoga and starting my new job. Blah, blah, blah. The good thing is my handstands are getting stronger and stronger and I’m holding my kick-ups longer and longer. I had actually finished Week 2 over a week ago, but because I went several days (more like over a week) without moving ahead, I decided to do the workout one more time before moving on. Today I’m sore. The drill with L-sits, reverse planks and wall holds almost killed me, but somehow I persevered and mustered up the courage to continue.

Now I’m planning to start Week 3 on Friday. And then I’ll be halfway through. Yikes. Part of me is excited because I can’t believe I’m almost halfway to doing a handstand in the middle of the room! The other part is still afraid that even after the six weeks is over, I still won’t be doing a handstand in the middle of the room. Why would I think that? I paid for the program because I believed it would happen. And in just two weeks (well more like four or five) of doing the drills and holds, I really am stronger and closer to my goal.

The journal assignment from Kyle was to write about being thankful. I am thankful. I’m thankful that George convinced me to practice hot yoga. I’m thankful that I kept practicing even after we broke up. I’m thankful that I’m stronger than I’ve ever been in my life. I’m thankful I had the money (well credit card) to purchase Kyle’s six-week to handstand program. I’m thankful I have the confidence and determination to keep working toward handstand. I’m thankful for my strong shoulders and arms and wrists and hands. I’m thankful that I found the joy of going upside down. 🙂
