Three Things You Need to Do a Handstand

by

“Practice isn’t the thing you do once you’re good. It’s the thing you do that makes you good.” — Malcolm Gladwell

Truth is, you need more than persistence, patience, and practice — skills like upper body strength, balance, and determination are key to finding handstand success — but I think it’s important to know that a handstand doesn’t happen overnight. Or even in a few weeks. And it will never occur without the three Ps.

It took me several years to finally kick up away from the wall and hold for several seconds. Yes, you read that right — YEARS. There were MANY times when I wanted to give up, but I just couldn’t. I really believed that if I kept trying, it would eventually happen. And it did!

Be patient with the process (don’t give yourself unrealistic deadlines), stay persistent in your efforts (keep trying even if you feel like you’re getting nowhere), and it WILL happen!

Practice — every day if possible — really is the most important part!
