Back at it

Had to back off the handstands for a little while due to shoulder issues. Issues meaning I had to have surgery. The good news: No tear! All they did was remove bone spurs. it was still invasive and I couldn’t go back to my normal routine for a while, but it was nothing like recovering from a tear. I wore a sling for a day and when I taught yoga to make sure I didn’t do too much, but other than that, everything progressed very quickly. My surgery was on August 24th and I was practicing yoga after six weeks. I started doing Wheel Pose two weeks ago and tonight….drumroll…I started working on handstand.

I kicked up pretty easily and it didn’t hurt! I also started the Kyle Weiger “Six Weeks to Handstand” program I purchased shortly after my surgery. It popped up on Facebook at a significant discount and I decided it was time to put my money where my mouth is. I also reasoned that purchasing it would force me to seriously do what I need to do to eventually kick up into handstand. Or press. Or whatever I’m going to end up doing.

I will have to say that his program is not for the faint of heart. Or the weak of arms. Or the frail of abs. Whew! That man puts you through the paces! It’s going to be a tough six weeks but I’ve paid good money for this dammit and I’m going to do it.
